National Activities Professional Day at Saga Senior Living

At Saga Senior Living, we believe great senior living is built on meaningful moments, authentic connections, and stories that continue to unfold. On National Activities Professional Day, we proudly celebrate the Activities Professionals who bring that belief to life in our communities every day.

At The Terraces at Kingwood Town Center, our activities programs reflect Saga’s commitment to whole-person wellness—supporting the mind, body, and spirit through thoughtfully designed, resident-led experiences.

Holistic Activities in Senior Living: The Saga Senior Living Difference

At Saga Senior Living communities in Kingwood and the greater Houston area, activities are never “one-size-fits-all.” Our approach is personal, intentional, and rooted in each resident’s story. Holistic activities in senior living help residents:

  • Stay physically active and mentally engaged
  • Continue lifelong hobbies and discover new interests
  • Build strong social connections and friendships
  • Maintain independence, confidence, and purpose
  • Feel seen, known, and valued every day

But the true impact of activities isn’t found on a calendar—it’s found in connection.

It’s laughter shared over a crossword puzzle. Movement and motivation during aqua aerobics. Creative expression at a Paint & Sip event, Stories exchanged over live music and happy hour. These are the moments that turn a senior living community into a place that truly feels like home.

Meet the Activities Team at The Terraces at Kingwood Town Center

At The Terraces at Kingwood Town Center, those moments begin with Melissa Crabtree, Lifestyle Director.

Born and raised in Houston, Melissa didn’t start her career in senior living—she began in the oil industry. Her journey changed after volunteering in a senior living community, where she discovered a calling rooted in service, connection, and purpose. More than eight years later, she reflects:

“I wish I would have started sooner,” said Melissa. “I can’t believe I get paid to spend time with our residents, hear their stories, and turn what I learn into activities that truly matter to them.”

“Putting a smile on someone’s face every day, helping friendships form, and really knowing our residents—that’s what I love most about my job.”

But, Melissa doesn’t do it alone. She is supported by a passionate, long-tenured team:

  • Roger Prince, Community Driver, has been part of The Terraces family for 15 years. Having served in maintenance, engagement, and transportation, Roger is known for his kindness, reliability, event support, DJ skills, and for being the residents’ favorite bartender.
  • Denissa Cruz, Lifestyle Assistant, brings experience in Assisted Living and Memory Care. She is bubbly, creative, endlessly resourceful, and deeply loved by residents for the warmth and joy she brings to every program.

Together, this team exemplifies Saga Senior Living’s belief that people make the place.
